Speaker votes: Elections shape Moldova's future for coming years

Speaker Igor Grosu voted today alongside his wife at one of the polling stations in Chisinau, saying that the election is a moment of great responsibility for citizens and future of the Republic of Moldova.

"I voted with a sense of joy and responsibility. These elections are not simple – they mark not only the next four years but also how we will build our society in the coming years. I voted for peace, stability, development, and for European Moldova. I urge all citizens, both in the country and abroad, to go to the polls and exercise their democratic right," Grosu said.

Referring to international relations, the speaker highlighted the challenges the country faces.

"It is clear that we must protect our decisions as citizens. The key to sovereignty lies with us, the voters. We cannot allow anyone to distort or influence the electoral process," Grosu said.

Regarding domestic politics, Grosu reiterated the need for a pro-European parliamentary majority.

"We are striving for a majority that will continue Moldova's pro-European path. There is no middle ground: either we have this majority, or the rapid European integration process cannot continue. It is essential for citizens to understand the importance of their vote."

The speaker also added that authorities are closely monitoring all polling stations, including those near the Transnistrian region, and noted that, at this moment, the electoral process is proceeding smoothly.

"The polling stations are well organized, and citizens are voting in safe and transparent conditions. My request to everyone is to be vigilant, to respect the rules, and to vote for their future and the country's," he mentioned.

Igor Grosu concluded with an appeal to voters.

"Today, each decision matters. Go to the polls, protect your right, and contribute to building European, fair, and prosperous Moldova."

Today the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are expected at the polls to choose representatives in the Legislature.
