VIDEO // Speaker discussed local public administration reform with mayors of Sângerei

Speaker Igor Grosu held a meeting with mayors of Sângerei. They discussed the role of local public administration reform in attracting funding and implementing local projects.

The Speaker reviewed the projects implemented in Sângerei district and those currently underway.

“ I had a good discussion with the mayors of Sângerei. Villages and towns are gradually developing, but we need much more. I am glad that most mayors understand the need for local public administration reform. They understand that in order to attract major projects and provide quality services to citizens, resources, funds and specialists are needed, and for this we need strong town halls and strong mayors,” Grosu stated.

The official also visited Prepelița village, Sângerei district, where through the Europe is Near program, a local road is being built, which will benefit around 2,400 residents.

“It is an important road for the residents, as it runs through practically half of the village. In recent years, we have been investing in the country’s roads at an unprecedented level, and this year we will place a greater emphasis on local roads. Through the Europe is Near program we will repair about 130 km of roads and sidewalks in 100 localities across the country,” Grosu emphasized.

During the same visit, the Speaker went to the Community Center for Seniors in the village of Bălășești, Sângerei district, opened with financial support from Germany. Also in this locality, the authorities allocated financial resources for the construction of two stadiums under the government program European Village II.

In total, around 130 million lei are being invested in Sângerei through the European Village programs.
