Adverse weather conditions in Moldova: Health Ministry mobilizes medical services

The Health Ministry announces the mobilization of all responsible medical services, in the context of the adverse weather conditions forecast for the period January 30 – February 2 all over Moldova.

Thus, the institution has ordered that medical services stay on alert. The authorities will ensure the provision of medical assistance according to requests, the verification of the technical condition of the Emergency Medical Service vehicles, and the maintenance of response capacity for all medical structures.

The Ministry has also issued a set of recommendations for citizens, urging the population to limit non-essential travels during difficult weather conditions and to exercise increased caution in traffic and on sidewalks. Citizens are advised to wear footwear appropriate for the cold season, to adjust their speed to road conditions, to avoid nighttime travel and to ensure that their vehicles are properly equipped for winter.

Authorities also draw attention to the need to support vulnerable individuals and recommend calling the single emergency number 112 in situations of necessity. At the same time, the residents are urged to use electricity responsibly and to disconnect sensitive electrical appliances in case of voltage fluctuations or power outages.

According to information provided by the State Hydrometeorological Service, sleet and snow will persist between January 30 and February 2, with an increased risk of ice and black ice forming on roads. In addition, for the period January 31 – February 2, a gradual decrease in air temperature is forecast, especially at night, which may lead to worsening traffic conditions, reduced visibility and higher risks for the population.
