Better conditions for schools, kindergartens in Moldova: 400 institutions endowed with equipment, furniture, teaching materials in 2025
A total of 200 kindergartens of Moldova in 2025 were endowed with equipment, furniture and didactic and methodological materials. At the same time, the Education and Research Ministry (MEC) completed the first stage of equipping 200 schools in more localities. The purchases were made under projects financed with the World Bank’s support.
According to the MEC, the total value of the goods purchased for kindergartens amounted to 1,336,800 dollars, while for schools the investment reached 2,280,000 dollars.
As a result of the implementation of these projects, the beneficiary institutions were equipped with computers, interactive whiteboards, school furniture and teaching materials for science laboratories. The acquisitions helped improve learning conditions and create a modern and inclusive educational environment.
Besides, the ministry ensured the purchase of new furniture for primary classes in 30 Model Schools and, together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), equipped more than 70 educational institutions with modern technologies.
Also, in 2025, the Education and Research Ministry mobilized substantial financial resources for the modernization of educational infrastructure, both by extending existing projects and by launching new initiatives. The Higher Education in Moldova project was extended by 37.5 million euros for the development of higher education and research. The Council of Europe Development Bank approved funding of 35 million euros for the modernization of 15 model schools, and with the support of the French Development Agency (AfD) and the German Development Bank (KfW), funding of 30 million euros was secured for the renovation of 12 dormitories for students and pupils from technical vocational education.
The authorities plan to invest more than 6 billion lei in the coming years in the modernization of the education system of Moldova.
