TOP 5 Priorities of Moldova's Justice Ministry for 2026: digitalization, European integration

The Justice Ministry enters 2026 with a clear set of strategic goals, focused on modernizing the judicial system and bringing it closer to European standards. In an exclusive interview with MOLDPRES, Justice Minister Vladislav Cojuhari has said that the current year would be decisive for aligning national legislation with European Union law, digitalizing judicial processes and strengthening key institutions in the field.

"For 2026, our priorities are clear. We will focus on aligning national legislation with European Union law, accelerating the digitalization of justice and consolidating institutions, so that the act of justice becomes more efficient, more predictable and closer to the citizen. The ultimate goal stays enhancing public trust in a functional and honest justice system," the justice minister said.

TOP 5 priority areas for 2026:

* Harmonizing the legislation of Moldova with EU law.

* Accelerating the digitalization of justice, including the development of electronic platforms.

* Institutional consolidation through effective mechanisms of management, transparency and accountability.

* Increasing the independence and integrity of the sector by continuing evaluations.

* Improving citizens’ access to justice.

The minister reiterated that, in the previous year, the Justice Ministry had focused on consolidating reforms and advancing Moldova’s European agenda. A major objective was the preparation and support of negotiations on chapters related to the rule of law, as well as the continuation of the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors—a process essential for cleansing the system.

Also in 2025, the foundations were laid for modernizing courts’ infrastructure and digitalizing legal services, an important step toward streamlining the act of justice and reducing bureaucracy.
