Deputy Speaker urges graduates to continue studies in Moldova: Moldovan universities becoming increasingly competitive at European level

Deputy Speaker Doina Gherman delivered a message of congratulations and encouragement to high school graduates today at the start of the Parliament's plenary session, urging them to continue their studies in the Republic of Moldova and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the national education system.

“We want to congratulate the young people of our country. Tomorrow will mark the end of high school for many students. Dear young people, we urge you to stay home. Moldova needs you,” said Doina Gherman.

The official emphasized that the stress of the high school graduation exams will pass, but numerous academic and professional opportunities lie ahead for the graduates.

“Our universities are changing. Degrees are internationally recognized, programs are aligned with European standards, and Erasmus mobility programs offer new experiences. You will find renovated classrooms, modern laboratories, and better conditions in the dormitories,” she noted.

According to Doina Gherman, two fully renovated student dormitories will open this year, and another 22 are currently being modernized. Additionally, starting September 1, scholarships will be increased, particularly for STEM fields.

“For first-year students, the Category I scholarship will reach 4,565 lei per month, an amount higher than in many countries in the region,” the Vice President of Parliament noted.

She encouraged young people to choose to study in the country, emphasizing that investments in education are intended to provide them with better conditions for development.

“We hope these changes will provide young people with yet another reason to study and succeed here at home. Congratulations to all high school students, teachers, and parents,” concluded Doina Gherman.

According to statistics, about 17,000 students are expected to graduate from high school in the Republic of Moldova this year.
