Illegal border crossing documented by police of Moldova: Ukrainian man tries to enter Moldova on foot
A 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen is being investigated after illegally crossing the state border from Ukraine into Moldova. The incident has occurred in the area of responsibility of the Tudora-1 Border Police Sector.
According to information provided by the Border Police, the man was traveling by coach on the Odesa–Reni transit route. Near the village of Palanca, he got off the vehicle and continued on foot, illegally crossing the state border.
The case was detected at approximately 1,000 meters from the border line, in the direction of Mayaki (Ukraine) – Palanca (Moldova). Modern surveillance systems, which ensure continuous monitoring of the border and send real-time alerts regarding suspicious activities, signaled the presence of the person in the border area. Subsequently, the patrol on duty intervened promptly and documented the case.
The man requested asylum on the territory of Moldova and the authorities initiated legal procedures in accordance with their competences.
The Border Police reiterate that the state border is permanently monitored and that any attempt at illegal crossing is identified and documented in accordance with the legislation in force.
