Moldova to receive European funding for regional development
Today, MPs ratified the Financing Agreement for Interreg Europe 2021–2027 Program, signed on December 27, 2024, between the Republic of Moldova, the European Commission and Hauts-de-France. The document is valid for 15 years and allows the country to access non-refundable European funds under the Interreg VI-C program.
The Interreg Europe Program has a total budget of 395 million euros, aimed at improving public policies and strengthening institutional cooperation. Its priorities include: a smarter, greener, more connected, more social Europe, closer to citizens, as well as more efficient regional governance.
Funding will be based on partnerships and will require 20% co-financing from beneficiaries. Central and local public authorities, NGOs, research institutions, and educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova will be able to access non-refundable funds for joint projects with European partners.
The program is implemented in all 27 member states of the European Union, as well as in partner countries such as Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
