Start for Youth // Young Moldovan entrepreneur turns passion into successful business with EU's financial support
Alexandru Sava, a young entrepreneur from the Cainari town, Causeni district, has received a grant worth about 200,000 lei from the European Union through the Start for Youth programme. With the help of this funding, the young man managed to transform his passion for woodcraft into a successful business, launching a workshop for producing indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as wooden kitchen accessories.
The investment in modern equipment allows him to fulfill orders faster and deliver higher quality products. With the help of the grant, Alexandru Sava was able to increase the volume of production and respond more efficiently to customers’ demands.
Young people of Moldova, aged between 18 and 35, willing to start or develop a business, can benefit from advisory support and non-reimbursable funding or loan with grant portion, thanks to the Start for Youth governmental programme.
The value of the financial package can reach up to 1.7 million lei and includes an 85-per cent repayable loan portion and a 15-per cent grant portion. In the non-reimbursable financial support component, young individuals can access up to 200,000 lei, with a 30-per cent own contribution.
The Start for Youth programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), supports young entrepreneurs in the process of social and economic integration, providing them with resources to develop their businesses and thus contributing to the region's economic growth.
