Several state institutions to be reorganized in Moldova
Several state institutions will be reorganized. They will switch from the government's subordination to the one of the competent ministries. The parliament approved a draft law on the matter in the first reading today. Deputy Secretary General of the Government Lilia Dabija said that the reorganization of the central public administration would bring more efficiency.
The draft stipulates that the State Agency for Intellectual Property will be subordinated to the Ministry of Justice, the Interethnic Relations Agency and the National Agency for Research and Development - to the Ministry of Education and Research, the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices - to the Ministry of Health and the Public Property Agency - to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization.
At the same time, the draft establishes that some institutions, such as the National Agency for Prevention and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence, the National Statistics Bureau, the National Anti-Doping Agency, the Bureau for Investigation of Transport Accidents and Incidents, the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadaster Agency, the National Social Insurance House and the National Health Insurance Company will maintain their current subordination.
Thus, each agency will be directly coordinated by the ministry which develops the policies in its field, eliminating overlaps of responsibilities and strengthening the institutional capacity of the ministries.
At the plenary meeting, Deputy Secretary General of the Government Lilia Dabija said that the reorganization of the central public administration, by moving several agencies from government’s subordination to the one of relevant ministries, would bring more efficiency and a clear delimitation of the duties of policy policies’ elaboration and enforcement.
The parliament is to vote initiative in the second reading as well. The proposed amendments are set to come into effect on January 1, 2026.
