Moldovan education minister warns about trips by teachers to trainings organized in Russia
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun today warned about cases where groups of teachers from certain regions of Moldova are traveling to Russia for trainings organized by Evrazia, an entity sanctioned for involvement in activities destabilizing Moldova.
"Lately, I have been receiving more and more reports about groups of teachers from certain regions of the country traveling to the Russian Federation for trainings organized by the organization Evrazia — an entity sanctioned by the European Union for involvement in activities destabilizing Moldova. These so-called trainings represent, in essence, indoctrination activities focused on promoting Kremlin’s narratives about the war in Ukraine, ‘Western decadence’ and Russian historical revisionism — messages that, through these teachers, later reach our schools, influencing the minds of the future generation of Moldovan citizens,” said Dan Perciun.
According to him, such actions are part of a hybrid war against Moldova, "whereby various social groups are impregnated with messages hostile to our national interests and then sent to spread them in their home communities.”
In these circumstances, the Ministry of Education has informed all educational institutions that it is strictly prohibited to conduct, within their premises, activities with a militarist, chauvinistic or nationalist-extremist propaganda nature, as well as those promoting hate speech or revisionist attitudes.
It is also prohibited for educational institutions, teachers and management staff to participate in activities, projects or programmes organized by entities that threaten the independence and security of Moldova or promote violence, hatred or discrimination.
Dan Perciun warned that these activities were illegal and would be sanctioned, in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Ethics, including the revocation of teaching and managerial degrees.
The organization Evrazia has earlier been sanctioned by the European Union for involvement in activities destabilizing Moldova.
