Weightlifter Alexandru Baldji becomes European champion among juniors for first time

Chisinau, 19 June. /MOLDPRES/- Weightlifter Alexandru Baldji has become the first European champion among juniors. The student of the Comrat sports school won three gold medals at the European weightlifting championships in Greece in the weight category up to 67 kg.

In the snatch event, Alexandru Baldji recorded a result of 124 kg, and in the throwing event he lifted 151 kg and, with a result of 275 kg in total, he ranked first in the overall ranking.

At the previous edition of the European Weightlifting Championships, U-15 and U-17, which was hosted for the first time by our country, Alexandru Baldji became European vice-champion, and at last year's World Championships, reserved for the same age group, he won the bronze medal.

The national weightlifting team has so far won 17 distinctions at the European U-15 and U-17 weightlifting championships in Greece.
