European Parliament calls for pre-accession funds for Moldova in EU's multiannual budget
European Parliament is calling for the allocation of pre-accession funds for the Republic of Moldova in the future multiannual budget of the European Union. Romanian MEP Dan Barna made the statement today.
As the rapporteur of the Renew Europe group for the Republic of Moldova, Barna announced that the country report on Chișinău's European path includes a series of key proposals supported by the majority of pro-European groups in the European Legislature.
"The Republic of Moldova is making substantial progress in the EU accession process, and all pro-European groups in the European Parliament support the efforts of the administration in Chișinău," Barna stated.
Among the requests advanced by MEPs are: the allocation of pre-accession funds in the next multiannual EU budget; the integration of Moldova into European security and defense programs, including participation in the new European Defence Industry program; the increase of member states' contributions to the European Peace Facility to support the Republic of Moldova; the compensation of recently suspended USAID funds by the US, especially in the energy sector.
