Faster emergency response: New equipment rules for Internal Affairs structures
Police officers, firefighters, rescuers and carabineers will be equipped more quickly with the necessary gear and technology and will be able to respond more efficiently in emergency situations. The Government has amended the regulation on the provision of material resources to the authorities subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI).
“These changes will help increase the response capacity of MAI subdivisions, enabling faster and more efficient interventions for public safety and ensuring proper equipment for personnel and vehicles. A better-equipped institution with more flexibility in decision-making ultimately means better protection for citizens,” Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin said.
Currently, the rules on equipment provision—from service vehicles and technical gear to logistical supplies—are set through Government decisions. This complex and slow procedure hampers the ability to respond quickly to unforeseen situations.
Equipment standards will be established by MAI. As a result, the equipping process will become much simpler, bureaucracy will be reduced, and subdivisions will adapt more easily to current challenges, including in crisis situations.
