Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration meets with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Special Representative for Transnistrian settlement process
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with Thomas Lenk, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Special Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process. Representatives of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office from Switzerland also took part in the meeting.
The discussions focused on the current situation in the settlement process, the dynamics of the dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol, the priorities of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, and highlighted the advantages of the country’s territorial reintegration policies.
The need to resolve the concrete problems of residents on both banks of the Dniester River was underlined, with priority given to those in difficulty, while guaranteeing fundamental human rights and freedoms, thus making a substantial contribution to the implementation of the strategic objective of reintegrating the Republic of Moldova.
Chișinău’s position on the final settlement of the Transnistrian conflict was reiterated, namely through peaceful and political means, with full respect for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
Chiveri appreciated the OSCE’s role in facilitating dialogue and reiterated Chișinău’s openness to engage in actions capable of contributing to the gradual removal of artificial barriers between the two banks.
