Prime Minister and Turkish Ambassador approach prospects for Moldovan-Turkish cooperation

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan held a meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Moldova Uygar Mustafa Sertel. The discussions focused on deepening the strategic partnership between the two states and implementing joint projects for the benefit of citizens.

The official highlighted the positive dynamics of economic relations between the two countries, noting the need to capitalize on new opportunities to increase bilateral trade. In the first five months of 2026, trade exchanges reached 478.3 million euros, with Moldovan exports increasing by almost 25% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In this context, the officials discussed opportunities to expand Turkish investments in infrastructure, renewable energy, modernization of the energy sector, tourism, healthcare, and culture.

A distinct subject of the discussion concerned the importance of cooperation for preserving and promoting the Gagauz language and culture.
