Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu took part in the opening of the USA Freedom 250 festival, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the United States of America. In his speech, the official noted that freedom is not just an abstract concept, but a fundamental choice that must be defended and built every single day.

“The meaning of freedom is redefined with every generation. If in the past it was about geopolitical independence, today it is also about energy security, economic resilience, properly functioning institutions and the dignity of every citizen. Freedom means a state’s ability to protect its citizens, to ensure their stability and to create real opportunities for them at home. It means credible institutions and solid partnerships,” the Prime Minister said.

In this context, the Premier referred to the 35 years of active partnership between the U.S. and the Republic of Moldova, emphasizing the continued support provided by the American people. Over 100 million dollars have been invested in road infrastructure, with approximately 100 km of roads modernized, and around 130 million dollars have been provided for the construction of the Liberty power line, which will connect the Republic of Moldova directly to the European energy system through Romania.

“These are not just numbers. They are the expression of a partnership built on shared values: freedom, democracy and respect for people,” the Premier stated, also referring to other projects in the fields of education and health, as well as those for modernizing border crossing points.

This year, the USA Freedom 250 Festival opened in Bălți and will continue tomorrow in Comrat. The program includes opportunities to interact with the team and partners of the U.S. Embassy in Chișinău, screenings of American films, as well as other entertainment activities for families.
