PM has meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has had a meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Paun Rohovei. The discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral relations and cooperation in the economic, humanitarian and infrastructure sectors.

The PM expressed support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, condemning Russian aggression against the neighboring state. “We stand with the Ukrainian people, who are defending not only their own country, but also the security of our region,” the prime minister said.

In the context, Ambassador Paun Rohovei thanked the authorities and citizens of Moldova for the support provided to Ukraine since the first days of the war, emphasizing that the humanitarian aid sent from the country had helped save numerous human lives.

The officials welcomed the active political dialogue between Moldova and Ukraine and underlined the importance of the European Union enlargement process.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed joint projects, including the construction of the Cosauti–Yampil bridge, the resumption of the activity of the Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation and the use of present mechanisms for regional cooperation.

At the same time, the interlocutors discussed the importance of the bilateral cooperation in managing the water resources of the Dniester River and the rapid exchange of information in the context of the hydrological situation.

Both sides expressed confidence that the active dialogue between Moldova and Ukraine would make it possible to achieve all goals included on the bilateral agenda.
