Moldovan president meets officials of United Kingdom
President Maia Sandu today in Chisinau received United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Yvette Cooper and Attorney General of UK Richard Hermer. The discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral partnership, regional security and the European path of Moldova.
The officials reaffirmed the strength of the Moldova–UK relationship, built on shared values and concrete commitments. The United Kingdom stays one of the most consistent supporters of Moldova’s resilience, including through assistance in the fields of security, combating disinformation and illicit financing, as well as support for civil society and the free press.
The talks also focused on cooperation in the fields of defence, trade and support for the Moldovan community in the United Kingdom.
The meeting is part of an active political dialogue between the two countries, marked over the last year by high-level meetings and the strengthening of the bilateral institutional framework.
The British officials are in Chisinau to attend the Ministerial Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, held under the Presidency of Moldova. The event brings together delegations from more than 50 member states, including foreign ministers and other high-ranking officials.
