Prime Minister met with EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification in Davos

The acceleration of Moldova’s integration into the European Union Single Market and the implementation of the EU-supported Growth Plan were discussed in Davos by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis.

The officials highlighted the concrete benefits of European integration already felt by citizens and businesses in our country, such as integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), Roaming Like at Home, preferential access for agricultural products, and the liberalisation of road freight transport.

Munteanu and Dombrovskis discussed the next steps that the Republic of Moldova must take in order to advance integration into the EU Single Market, as well as to connect our infrastructure and networks with those of the European Union.

In this regard, they assessed the progress of the Growth Plan, the priorities of economic reforms, planned investments, and how the EU can support the implementation of this Plan. The official underlined the good progress in implementing all conditionalities, the application of an efficient monitoring mechanism, and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to speeding up the reform agenda and strengthening the financial stability of the Republic of Moldova.

Other topics discussed by the officials included energy security, stimulating the business environment, and improving the investment climate in the Republic of Moldova.
