European Union remains main destination for goods exports by economic agents from Transnistrian region
In the first half of 2026, exports carried out by economic agents from the Transnistrian region to the member states of the European Union remained at the same level compared to the similar period of 2025, accounting for 76.9% of the total volume of external trade transactions. At the same time, imports from the EU accounted for 41.5% of the total volume of goods brought into the region.
The main destinations for exports are EU countries, particularly Romania, Italy, and Slovakia, while imports come mainly from Ukraine, the EU, and China. These figures clearly show that companies from the localities on the left bank of the Dniester River and the municipality of Bender are maintaining their economic ties with the EU, which remains externally the most important sales market for the region’s business environment.
These data confirm the stable orientation of the Transnistrian region toward the EU commercial area, a process that directly supports the country’s economic reintegration. Such approaches bring the two banks of the Dniester River closer economically, as access to the European market requires companies in the region to apply the same rules, procedures, documents, and standards that are valid throughout the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova.
