
European Parliament vice president on visit to Chisinau: strong support for democracy in Moldova
Vice President of the European Parliament Nicolae Stefanuta pays an official visit to Chisinau in his capacity as the principal representative for supporting democracy in Moldova. The announcement was made by The European Union Delegation to Moldova has made statements to this effect.
During the meetings scheduled, the European official will meet President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, in order to discuss the country's democratic priorities and the close cooperation with European institutions.
At a news conference following the visit, Nicolae Stefanuta will present the European Parliament's message of ongoing support for the strengthening of democracy in Moldova. The focus will be on combating disinformation, addressing foreign interference and ensuring the integrity of the forthcoming parliamentary elections, - key elements for the country's European path.
The official will highlight how the European Parliament contributes to strengthening the democratic institutions in Moldova through specialized technical assistance, inter-parliamentary cooperation, electoral support and advice on democratic governance.
Vice President Stefanuta’s visit reflects the European Union's commitment to support the Moldovan authorities’ efforts in strengthening the rule of law, ensuring free and fair elections and defending the sovereignty of Moldova in the face of external pressures.
