Modernized settlements, new rules for hospitals, international internships for young people in Moldova

A total of 293 settlements of Moldova will have modern urban planning schemes; patients and medical staff will benefit from higher-quality medical services and young people will be able to take part in international professional internships. These are the projects included among the top decisions approved at a cabinet meeting today, according to Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu.

“At today’s government meeting, we approved decisions that support local development, improve medical services and enhance the investment attractiveness of Moldova,” said Alexei Buzu.

Modern urban planning for localities

One of the projects approved at the meeting stipulates that the government will finance the development, updating or modernization of the General Urban Plans for 293 settlements.

This involves total investments of over 210 million lei, of which about 208 million lei will come from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development.

“Urban plans are essential for sustainable development, infrastructure organization and access to funding for projects in water supply, sewerage, public lighting, roads and public buildings,” underlined Alexei Buzu.

Safer conditions for patients and medical staff

At the same time, a new sanitary regulation on hygiene conditions for all public and private medical services’ providers was approved.

Based on this regulation, modern requirements are established for the organization of spaces, prevention and control of infections, ventilation, cleanliness and the management of medical waste.

International professional internships for young specialists

Also today, the International Corporate Volunteering Programme was approved, implemented under the Agreement between Moldova and France. It gives young specialists (18–28 years old) from France and the European Economic Area the opportunity to carry out internships at companies of Moldova.

The government’s secretary general stressed that the programme supported knowledge transfer, the development of the local business environment and enhances the country’s attractiveness for foreign investment.
