Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador awarded Diplomatic Merit Medal at end of mandate
Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, based in Bucharest, Mohammed Abdulghani Khayat was awarded Diplomatic Merit medal at the end of his mandate.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a farewell meeting with the ambassador, expressing appreciation for the latter’s contribution to strengthening Moldovan–Saudi bilateral relations and intensifying the political dialogue between the two states.
During the discussions, Mihai Popșoi highlighted the visit paid by the Moldovan delegation to Saudi Arabia in November 2024, following which the General Cooperation Agreement between the Governments of the two countries was signed.
“Your mandate has been an important one and has contributed to bringing our countries closer together. We will continue to work together to develop relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Popșoi.
As a token of gratitude for his substantial contribution to the development of bilateral relations and the promotion of the Moldovan–Saudi political dialogue, the diplomat received the 2nd Class “Diplomatic Merit” medal.
The ambassador emphasized that the Republic of Moldova holds a special place in his heart, considering it his second home, and he expressed his wish to return to the country even after the end of his diplomatic mandate.
