VIDEO // Romanian Senate president sends message to Moldovans ahead of elections

President of the Romanian Senate Mircea Abrudean has sent a message to the citizens of Moldova on the eve of the parliamentary elections due on September 28, emphasizing the importance of voting and choosing a European future.

“On Sunday, September 28, Moldova is writing a new page in its story. It is the day when Moldovan citizens decide the path they will take in the years to come. I know that sometimes it seems like a single vote doesn’t change anything, but the truth is that the future is built with each choice. Each voice that is heard, each ballot cast is a testament to our belief in freedom, stability and democracy,” Abrudean said.

He also said that Romania stayed a close partner and supporter of Moldova on its European path.

“Romania has been and remains alongside Moldova, wholeheartedly supporting its European journey, a path of prosperity, peace and respect for each citizen,” the Romanian official noted.

In the context of current challenges, the Romanian Senate president insisted on the importance of voting.

“We are living in difficult times, when threats to security and democracy are real. But that is exactly why voting is our peaceful and powerful weapon. Through it, we defend our values, independence and the future of our children,” the cited source opined.

At the same time, Abrudean issued a special call to Moldovans from Romania.

“I call on all Moldovans from Romania to come and vote at the stations organized here, close to their homes. Let us unite our voices and send a strong signal that  Moldova has the courage to choose a European future. You now have the opportunity to write the future – write it well,” concluded the Romanian official.

On Sunday, September 28, the citizens of Moldova are expected at the polls to elect their representatives in the parliament.
