Moldova, Greece seek to develop joint projects in tourism, culture

Moldova and Greece might develop joint tourist circuits, bilateral cultural projects and investments in the hospitality sector, following discussions held in Chisinau between Culture Minister Cristian Jardan and a Greek delegation made up of investors, representatives of municipalities, travel agencies and tour operators.

The meeting took place within the B2B event, Destinations’ Diplomacy — Greece in Moldova, organized by the National Association for Inbound and Domestic Tourism.

“Moldova has great potential for tourism development, beautiful places, welcoming people and delicious food,” said Minister Cristian Jardan. He noted that the assessments had been voiced by the members of the Greek delegation present in Chisinau.

The official said that, during the discussions, the sides had addressed cooperation opportunities between the two states in the fields of tourism and culture.

“There is significant potential for the development of joint tourist circuits and bilateral cultural programmes between Moldova and Greece,” the culture minister also said.

According to Cristian Jardan, direct air connections create the conditions for an increase in the number of Greek tourists interested in authentic experiences, gastronomy wine and cultural heritage.

“Moldova can become an attractive destination for the city-break segment, wine and experiential tourism for the Greek market,” the official said.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed developing collaboration between tour operators, regional authorities and the investment community, which could generate new projects in hospitality, sustainable tourism and cultural promotion.

The culture minister underlined that deepening cultural and economic relations through tourism can contribute to bringing the communities of the two countries closer together and to increasing the interest of Greek tourists in Moldova as an emerging destination in the region.
