Moldovan government in 2025 to allocate 23.5 million lei for renovation, modernization of sanitary facilities in schools
The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) has approved the list of schools that will benefit, in 2025, from an overall funding of 23.5 million lei for projects to renovate and modernize sanitary facilities. The educational institutions are located in Chisinau, Orhei, Soroca, Hancesti, Straseni, Stefan Voda, Ialoveni, Rascani, and Floresti.
According to MEC, the renovation and modernization of sanitary facilities in schools are part of the Moldovan government’s commitment to improve hygiene conditions in educational institutions and to create a healthier and safer educational environment.
In all, 19 projects have been approved for full funding, and another four have been placed on the reserve list. For the selected projects, approximately 22.4 million lei have been allocated from the state budget, and local public authorities will contribute over 1.1 million lei.
The selection process took place in four stages, starting from February 2025, when a public call for project funding was launched. Local public authorities had to submit participation files till 11 April, and a total of 59 projects were registered. The National Office for Regional and Local Development monitored the application submission process. Subsequently, the technical committee verified if the submitted files met all administrative and technical requirements.
Eligible projects underwent a technical and financial evaluation by an intersectoral committee established by the MEC. The selection criteria included: relevance and social impact, the quality of proposed technical solutions, estimated budget, implementation capacity and accessibility for children with disabilities.
