USMF 'Nicolae Testemițanu' organized first brokerage event for research and innovation partnerships

The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy 'Nicolae Testemițanu' from the Republic of Moldova hosted for the first time a brokerage event for the development of strategic partnerships in research and innovation - Research to Impact.

The event was organized by the National Institute for Research in Medicine and Health, as part of Nexus for Digital Health in Moldova project, which is part of ReBRAIN program dedicated to collaboration between the scientific diaspora and research centers in the country.

USMF's Vice-Rector Olga Cernețchi emphasized the university's active role in modernizing research and integrating it into the international space. The official pointed out the importance of involving diaspora experts, who contribute with expertise, vision and innovative spirit.

'The event represents a platform for identifying competitive partnerships and formulating ideas with real funding potential. Moldova has exceptional human resources, and through intelligent collaboration, we can advance towards solid European projects and digital solutions adjusted to the medical system,' said Olga Cernețchi.

The Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Jana Chihai, mentioned that the initiative reflects the university's mission to promote the concept of education through research.

'Innovation arises where there is dialogue and open collaboration. Today's event is a premiere and allowed for the formation of teams to prepare projects for grant competitions and partnerships with national and international industry,' said Jana Chihai.

Adriana Cazacu, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research also attended the event and commended USMF 'Nicolae Testemițanu' as one of the most active institutions in developing partnerships between research, business environment and scientific diaspora. She reminded that biomedicine and biopharmaceuticals are one of the four priority areas of SMART Moldova National Smart Specialization Program for 2024–2027.

The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Health, USMF 'Nicolae Testemițanu', the National Agency for Research and Development, the International Organization for Migration, the private sector, as well as experts and researchers of the medical diaspora. The program included thematic panels, Pitch Arena: Impact Ideas sessions and networking activities, dedicated to initiating strategic partnerships in research, industry and innovation.
