Energy Ministry announces emergency disconnections of 400 kV power lines; consumers stay supplied with electricity in Moldova
The Energy Ministry announces emergency disconnections of the 400 kV overhead interconnection power lines Vulcanesti–Isaccea and Vulcanesti–MGRES (Kuchurgan power station). The faults were caused by heavy rainfall and intense lightning.
At this stage, specialists from the Moldelectrica state enterprise have identified the nature of the fault on the Vulcanesti–MGRES power line, and operational teams are working around the clock to eliminate the outage and restore its operation as soon as possible. In parallel, the necessary technical checks are being carried out on the other components of the network affected by the extreme weather conditions.
“Despite the incidents that occurred in the transmission network, end consumers have not been disconnected from the electricity supply. The National Power System continues to operate in a controlled and stable regime, thanks to the prompt operational maneuvers carried out by the dispatchers and technical teams of the enterprise,” the Energy Ministry said.
Presently, the entire operational staff of the state enterprise Moldelectrica is fully mobilized to safely reconnect and synchronize the 400 kV power line, as well as to maintain the reliability of the electricity transmission system.
In addition, in the context of the overloads that may occur in such situations, consumers are asked to use electricity rationally and responsibly, avoiding excessive consumption during peak hours, in order to reduce the risk of additional disturbances in the network.
