The National Roads Administration (AND) announces that, at this time, road traffic on national public roads is taking place in typical winter conditions, with patches of black ice and reduced visibility. Snowfall continues in more regions Moldova, in some places being heavy and accompanied by strong winds and blizzards.
Restrictions for heavy traffic
Due to difficult weather conditions, the authorities have maintained restrictions on heavy transport on several road sections:
M-5, Negresti locality, Straseni district;
R30, Causeni – Anenii Noi;
R34, Cahul – Giurgiulesti;
M3, Balabanu – Giurgiulesti;
R26, Cimislia – Causeni;
R34.3, Hancesti – Sarata Galbena.
Field interventions
Road maintenance teams are intervening continuously, both mechanically and manually, to clear snow from the roads, clean the roadway and combat slipperiness. Presently, over 135 special vehicles are involved in road maintenance operations.
Interventions are taking place mainly in the southern and central areas of the country, and in isolated cases in the north, including in the districts of Orhei, Causeni, Anenii Noi, Stefan Voda, Ceadar-Lunga, Slobozia Mare, Hancesti, Briceni and Ocnita.
In southern Taraclia district, more vehicles were stranded on the road due to difficult driving conditions. Road workers intervened to tow them and ensured the safe resumption of traffic.
Recommendations for drivers
The National Road Administration reminds road users that caution is essential in such conditions and recommends:
- adjusting speed to the road surface conditions;
- keeping a safe distance between vehicles;
- avoiding non-essential travel;
- complying with restrictions imposed by the authorities.
