Government increases salary supplements for university teachers and researchers
About 4000 academic and research staff from universities in the country will benefit from increased salary supplements. The government has approved a decision in this regard.
Specifically, the monthly bonus for the title of PhD or university professor will increase from 1,100 lei to 4,500 lei, and for the title of doctor of sciences or university lecturer - from 600 lei to 4,000 lei. Therefore, due to the increase in monthly bonuses, salaries will rise by over 20%, and their amounts for a standard will reach up to 21,400 lei for a university professor and 19,960 lei for an associate professor position.
The measure aims to support efforts to motivate university staff and strengthen the fields of research and innovation, contributing to maintaining the competitiveness and quality of higher education in the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, the initiative will eliminate discrepancies between the salary levels in general and technical vocational education and those of academic staff in higher education.
The decision will come into effect starting 1 September 2025. In total, 2470 academic staff and 1487 researchers will benefit from the increases.
