Driving licenses issued in Moldova to be recognized in Latvia
Driving licenses issued in the Republic of Moldova will be recognized in Latvia. The government approved today the signing of the Agreement between the two states on recognition and conversion of driver's licenses.
The agreement will improve mobility access for citizens of both states, enhance road safety, reduce fraud, and prevent violations related to driver's licenses.
Recognition and conversion will apply to driver's license holders who have permanent residence in the territory of one of the parties.
“The document will contribute to facilitating the mobility of citizens of the Republic of Moldova and Latvia, and will also provide a clear and efficient legal framework for the conversion of driver's licenses and ensure the strengthening of Moldovan-Latvian bilateral relations in the transport and internal affairs,” said State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexandru Bejan.
“We are gradually expanding this facility for our citizens,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean, after approving the project.
So far, the Republic of Moldova has concluded similar agreements with other states, including Lithuania, Turkey, Spain and Italy.
