Over 138 million lei in social benefits in 2025 provided to Moldova's citizens residing in Transnistrian region
Citizens of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region in 2025 received social benefits totaling 138.53 million lei, paid from the national public social insurance budget. The total amount of payments increased by about 40 million lei (+40.7 per cent) compared to 2024, when their value was 98.45 million lei.
The number of beneficiaries recorded a significant increase of approximately 213.6 per cent. Thus, in 2025, 10,134 people received social payments, compared to 3,231 people in 2024.
The main categories of benefits provided in 2025 include:
4,624 monthly childcare allowances (4,149 for children up to 2 years of age, 475 for children up to 3 years of age);
1,891 one-off childbirth allowances;
1,169 old-age pensions;
1,155 temporary incapacity for work allowances;
514 monthly state allowances for war veterans (in accordance with Law No. 317/2024);
185 maternity allowances, among others.
The most significant increases were reported in the field of family and child protection. The number of one-off childbirth allowances rose from 284 (in 2024) to 1,891 (in 2025), while the number of childcare allowances for children up to 2 years of age increased from 615 to 4,149 beneficiaries.
The full observance and fulfillment of social commitments towards all citizens of Moldova, regardless of their place of residence or domicile, represent a strategic and permanent priority for the national authorities. The state guarantees each citizen the inalienable right to benefit from social protection, ensuring unrestricted and equitable access to essential public services.
