Poland reaffirms strong support for Moldova's EU membership
Poland will continue to support the Republic of Moldova, particularly in European integration. Marek Hok, Polish co-chair of Poland-Moldova Parliamentary Assembly made the statement at a joint conference with Moldova's co-chair Doina Gherman. They also signed a joint declaration.
Deputy Speaker Doina Gherman emphasized that Poland remains a firm partner and a trustworthy friend of our country, highlighting the substantial support provided by Warsaw in key areas such as defense, agriculture, infrastructure, digitalization, public order and energy security.“This parliamentary assembly is a good opportunity to thank you for all the support provided, for the solidarity, and for Poland’s continued commitment to Moldova's accession to the European Union. In the last 15 years, Poland has funded 264 projects in Moldova, totaling 15 million euros, and in the last two and a half years, assistance has tripled, including direct budget support. Moreover, bilateral trade increased by almost 13% in 2024, with Poland becoming the largest global importer of fruits and nuts from Moldova,” Gherman said.
She added that under the Polish presidency of the European Union Council, the Reform and Growth Mechanism for Moldova, worth 1.9 billion euros was quickly approved, representing an essential instrument for supporting our European path.
“The document was already signed in Chisinau a few days ago. It represents not only substantial financial support but also a very strong political signal - an unprecedented support from the European Union for our country. At the same time, it is a declaration of confidence in the direction we have chosen and the reforms we are implementing. This mechanism is a concrete and tangible step in our process of accession to the European Union,” the official concluded.
Marek Hok reaffirmed support for our country.“We, the Poles, have supported you from the beginning. We have strived to be like a guide for you on the European path. We are very glad that you want to use our experience and the lessons we learned in the process of accession to the EU. Now, not only at the political level is there good cooperation between our countries, but also economically, at the level of human relations. We discussed today the numerous challenges of Moldova’s European pathway and reaffirmed our strong support,” Hok stated.
The tenth session of Moldova-Poland Parliamentary Assembly took place today in Chisinau. The event was hosted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, where a joint declaration was signed.
Moldova-Poland Parliamentary Assembly was set up in 2011 and represents a consultative inter-parliamentary body to formulate common positions on projects of bilateral interest. Plenary sessions take place annually, alternately in the two states.
