Runoff presidential elections in Romania
Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova are expected to vote in the runoff presidential elections in Romania. The voting process will take place over three days - from Friday, 16 May to Sunday, 18 May between 07:00 and 21:00.
There will be 64 voting stations operating in Moldova. Thus, 18 stations will be organized in the North region, 38 in the Central region, including 20 in Chișinău, and 8 in the South region.
In the first round of Romania's presidential elections, about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted over three days. Romanians in the Republic of Moldova were among the most active voters from the diaspora, after countries like Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain.
In the current election, the voter turnout in the Republic of Moldova is higher than in the elections held on 24 November last year, when about 81,000 Romanian citizens voted in our country.
In Romania's presidential elections, 965 voting stations were opened abroad. Romanian citizens in the diaspora have three days to cast their vote. The presidential race involves two candidates: candidate from AUR party George Simion and independent candidate Nicușor Dan.
