Social Protection Agreement between Moldova and Italy to be ratified
Social Protection Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy will be ratified tomorrow by the Chamber of Deputies in Italy. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu made the statement today.
The document strengthens the cooperation relations between the two countries and acknowledges the contribution of the diaspora.
“The agreement was ratified by the Italian Senate in March. The ratification by the Chamber of Deputies of the Social Protection Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy is scheduled on 22 May. Following this final vote, the Agreement will be promulgated by the Italian president. Subsequently, the basic Agreement comes into force 60 days after promulgation. After this, Italy and Moldova will sign the administrative arrangements for implementation, which we have already negotiated,” said Alexei Buzu.
The agreement will offer Moldovans in Italy access to essential social protection: retirement age pensions, disability pensions, allowance for occupational accidents or diseases, and survivor pensions.
“After many years of waiting and considerable negotiation effort, we are very close to offering our citizens in Italy the peace of mind that they will be able to receive pensions that reflect their contributions,” stated Alexei Buzu.
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova ratified the Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy on November 28, 2024, after the document was signed in Rome on October 31, 2024.
