Truck traffic redirected through Palanca customs checkpoint; Moldova's Customs Service increases number of officers

The Customs Service has increased the number of officers involved in controlling freight transport at the Palanca–Maiaki–Udobnoe border crossing point, amid the redirection of traffic from Tudora–Starokazacie. The measures were taken, in order to streamline truck traffic and reduce waiting times.

According to the Customs Service, the control authorities are operating at increased capacity. Together with the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), the necessary measures have been taken to process freight shipments.

The Tudora–Starokazacie border crossing stays temporarily non-operational, after the infrastructure of the Starokazacie crossing point, located in Ukraine, was damaged in a drone attack.

As a result, traffic is being redirected through the Palanca–Maiaki–Udobnoe border crossing point, leading to an increase in the flow of freight transport at this crossing.

The Customs Service says it is taking measures to maintain the most efficient possible flow of trucks and reduce waiting times at the border.

The authority calls on carriers to show understanding and cooperate with the control institutions, in the context of the situation.

The Starokazacie border crossing point in Ukraine was attacked by a drone during the night of September 8–9. Two civilians died and two others were injured in the attack. Operations at the Tudora (Moldova)–Starokazacie (Ukraine) border crossing were suspended.
