PHOTO // Deputy Prime Minister, European partners in The Hague discussed European path and regional security

European path, bilateral cooperation and regional security were discussed by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, David van Weel. The meetings took place today during the Diplomatic Conference on the adoption of the Convention for the establishment of the International Claims Commission for Ukraine.

In discussions with Andrii Sybiha, the regional security situation was addressed, and perspectives for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and defense, as well as political dialogue within regional formats were analyzed.

Additionally, the two ministers discussed advancing the European path of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as significant progress reflected in the latest EU Enlargement Report.

Deepening bilateral cooperation and the consistent support of the Netherlands for the European path of the Republic of Moldova were the main topics of discussions with Minister David van Weel. Furthermore, cooperation in security and defense, as well as the contribution of assistance provided by the Kingdom of the Netherlands to strengthening the resilience of Moldovan authorities, especially in the field of cybersecurity and combating disinformation were addressed.

Popșoi exchanged views with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys.

“In The Hague, I was delighted to meet again with the good friends of the Republic of Moldova. We had discussions on the cooperation between our countries and the European path of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, including the next steps in the process of joining the European Union. I thanked them for the constant support given to the Republic of Moldova in its European transformation journey and institutional strengthening,” said Mihai Popșoi.

The diplomatic conference in The Hague brought together high representatives of the member states of the Council of Europe and the European Union. Moldova, alongside other states signed the Convention on establishment of the International Claims Commission for Ukraine.
