MMPS to enhance support for young families and job seekers

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MMPS) will intensify labor market measures in 2026 to help people find jobs. Another priority is providing support to young families and offering social assistance to vulnerable citizens. These measures were announced today by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru, following the Government meeting.

The official forecasts that 2026 will be an intense year concerning the speed of implementing reforms and commitments assumed in the National Plan for EU accession.

“In the labor market domain, we will expand the range of active measures offered to job seekers and inactive individuals. We aim to better harmonize demand and supply in the labor market because we know there are situations where companies are looking for employees, yet on the other hand, we have an inactive population. Similarly, we aim to transpose several directives on workplace safety and health insurance conditions concerning employee-employer relations,” stated Natalia Plugaru.

Another priority is implementing programs for young families. This involves expanding nursery groups so that people can return to the labor market.

“In child protection, we aim to ensure that no child is placed in specialized centers. Currently, we still have 360 children whom we want to help reach family warmth and care. Moreover, we will continue programs for people with disabilities. We plan to expand social services to ensure people are not in placement centers but reach community homes. I was in Drochia yesterday, where I visited a placement center for the elderly and people with disabilities. Our desire is to reduce such centers and offer a dignified life in the community. Similarly, we will continue to provide social assistance to vulnerable families who need additional support, as government programs aid the most vulnerable. We wish to help people access services and lead a decent life in the Republic of Moldova,” said Natalia Plugaru.

The measures are part of a national citizen support program implemented by institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
