VIDEO// Draft law: Salaries of ANRE, CNPF, ANRCETI heads could be capped

The salaries of the heads of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), the National Commission of Financial Market (CNPF), and the National Agency for Regulation in Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) could be capped. A draft law to this effect has been registered in parliament by a group of MPs from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) faction.

It was presented during a briefing by deputy Larisa Novac.

The initiative aims to increase transparency, accountability, and fairness in public institutions.

“Through this law, we reduce the pressure of excessive costs and increase public confidence in regulatory institutions. The proposed ceilings are competitive enough to maintain the attractiveness of leadership positions. The law will come into force on January 1, 2026, and effective application on February 1, 2026. With this legislative proposal, we are responding to a natural demand of society and contributing to building trust in public institutions. It is a necessary decision that brings fairness and responsibility. Transparency is a long-awaited decision by the people.”

According to the proposal, salaries will be set in relation to the projected average monthly salary in the economy for the budgetary year: CNPF and ANRCETI - up to five average salaries; ANRE - up to six average salaries.

The law prohibits granting bonuses, premiums, or other additional payments that exceed the legal cap. Additionally, salary scales will be published on the institutions' websites, and regulations and contracts will be adjusted within 30 days.
