Education minister, group of parents discussed solutions to integrating children returning from diaspora

Solutions for facilitating the integration of children returning from the diaspora into schools in the Republic of Moldova were discussed during a meeting between Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun and a group of parents who have returned to the country.

Among the challenges identified are the disparities between the curriculum in other countries and that of the Republic of Moldova, the complexity of study programs, and challenges in Romanian language and other humanities, including history and geography.

In response to the difficulties related to learning the Romanian language, the Ministry of Education and Research proposed the introduction of a Romanian language study program for children of Moldovan citizens returning from abroad and for foreign citizens' children in our country. This new program will support children in learning the Romanian language, help them adapt more easily to schools in our country, and fully integrate into the educational process.

“We understand that one of the greatest challenges is studying the Romanian language. Therefore, we proposed amending the Education Code to ensure the necessary framework for organizing Romanian language study programs for children returning from the diaspora, to facilitate their integration into schools in the Republic of Moldova,” emphasized Minister Dan Perciun.

During the meeting, parents shared their children's integration experiences and made several proposals for facilitating the integration of children returning from the diaspora, including implementing additional educational support measures.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Research mentioned that these measures will be examined in the context of developing and adjusting educational policies regarding the integration of diaspora children.
