PHOTO // Moldovan parliament speaker meets Ambassador of Latvia to Moldova; cooperation in energy, cyber sectors on discussions' agenda

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with Ambassador of Latvia to Moldova Edgars Bondars. The two officials discussed the bilateral cooperation agenda, including in the energy and cyber fields.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed latest events in both states.

“Latvia assists us in the process of reform and strengthening of state institutions. It is a firm supporter of our European path and a generous donor over the years. I thanked Ambassador Edgars Bondars and talked about the areas in which we can collaborate, such as energy and cybersecurity,” said Igor Grosu.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Latvia were established on September 1, 1992. To date, approximately 30 bilateral treaties are in force and active, in such sectors as commercial-economic, defense, justice, tourism, environmental protection, health and medical sciences, education, culture, science, youth and sports.

At the same time, the government of Latvia provides financial assistance to  Moldova in such areas of interest as administration, educational bilingualism, integrated border management, combating corruption, energy, communication with civil society and metrology.
