Moldova's team again world champion in robotics – fifth fold medal won at FIRST Global Challenge

Students from Moldova have once again made history at the world's largest high school robotics Olympiad, the FIRST Global Challenge 2025, held in Panama City. The country's team won the gold medal for the fifth year in a row, reaffirming Moldova's status as one of the leading nations in educational robotics.

President Maia Sandu congratulated the young people on their new achievement, highlighting the importance of this performance in a competition with over 190 countries worldwide.

“Our students have made history once again. I am proud of this achievement and thank them for carrying the name of Moldova with pride around the world. All admiration for the teachers, mentors and parents who stand behind this extraordinary team,” said the head of state.

The FIRST Global Challenge annually brings together thousands of young people passionate about science, technology, engineering and mathematics, who design and programme robots capable of solving complex technical challenges inspired by global problems.

The success of the Moldovan team reconfirms the potential and creativity of the youth from Moldova, as well as the positive impact of STEM education (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) in forming a new generation of innovators.
