The importance of maintaining a productive collaboration between central and local public administration, efforts to restart the economy, the benefits of European integration, and achievements in the region were the main topics discussed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu with mayors, councilors and representatives of decentralized services in the Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) Găgăuzia.

The official noted that thanks to joint efforts, several projects have been implemented in the region that have contributed to the modernization of localities, attracting investments, and improving the living standards of the Gagauz community as well as all residents from Vulcănești, Ceadîr-Lunga and Comrat districts.

Thus, through the European Village Program, 38 projects have been carried out or are under implementation, with a total value of over 140 million lei. They focused on the energy efficiency of educational institutions, providing households with drinking water and sewerage systems, installing photovoltaic systems, renovating sports halls and fields, and cultural centers. In recent years, Comrat District Hospital, Ceadîr-Lunga District Hospital and Vulcănești District Hospital have also been renovated and equipped with modern medical equipment.

"The Government, alongside external partners and in cooperation with local administration, invests in roads, water and sewage, education, and health in Găgăuzia, just as we do throughout the country. The benefits of EU accession are for all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, and the effort of European integration requires everyone's participation," highlighted Munteanu.

The mayors appreciated the government's investments in the region and mentioned that among the problems faced by the localities they lead are, especially, the lack of aqueduct and sewage systems, illegal deforestation, unpaved roads, and the quality of education. They also requested an increase in the number of projects accepted for carrying out within the European Village Program and spoke about the need to raise taxes to increase local budget revenues.

At the same time, Munteanu emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting the Gagauz language and culture. "Our common priority, together with local administrations is to maintain peace, stability and harmony throughout Moldova. National unity is the indispensable element for ensuring a secure future and a dignified life for all our citizens," he said.
