Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has taken part in the opening of the USA Freedom 250 festival, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the United States of America. In his speech, the PM noted that freedom is not just an abstract concept, but an essential choice, a choice that must be defended and built day by day.

“The meaning of freedom is redefined with every generation. While in the past, it was about geopolitical independence, today it is also about energy security, economic resilience, about institutions that work properly and about the dignity of every citizen. Freedom means a state’s ability to protect its citizens, to ensure their stability and to create real opportunities for them at home. It means reliable institutions and strong partnerships,” said the prime minister.

In the context, Alexandru Munteanu referred to the 35 years of active partnership between the USA and Moldova, emphasizing the constant support provided by the American people. Over 100 million dollars have been invested in roads’ infrastructure, with approximately 100 km of roads modernized, and about 130 million dollars has been allocated for the construction of the Liberty power line, which will directly connect the Moldova to the European energy system through Romania.

“These are not just figures. They represent the expression of a partnership built on common values: freedom, democracy and respect for people,” the prime minister noted. He referred also to other projects in the fields of education, health, as well as the ones aimed at modernizing border crossing points.

This year, the USA Freedom 250 Festival started in Balti and will continue in Comrat on Aril 24. The agenda includes opportunities for interaction with the team and partners of the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, screenings of American films, as well as other recreational activities for families.
