The Land Registration and Property Valuation Project, implemented in the Republic of Moldova with the support of the World Bank will serve as a starting point for continuing reforms in the field – for faster cadastral services, more accessible public data, better management of public property and fairer tax policies. Deputy Secretary General of Government Alexandru Iacub made the statement during the project closing event.

By implementing the Land Registration and Property Valuation Project, launched in 2018, the Republic of Moldova has taken an important step toward a modern cadastral system. Over 70 million pages from the cadastral archive have been digitized, the IT infrastructure has been modernized, tools such as the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Geoportal have been developed, and almost 5 million properties have been valued for the first time.

“Today we mark the completion of a project that had a clear aim: order in property, transparency in data and security for the future. A real estate asset correctly registered means more security for the family, more clarity for the authorities, more predictability for investors and less room for abuses or uncertainties,” emphasized Iacub.

He praised the efforts of all institutions involved: the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, the Public Institution Real Estate Cadastre, the Public Property Agency, local authorities and the World Bank.

“The completion of the project does not mean the end of the reform. The Government’s objective remains clear: a state that functions on the basis of accurate data, efficient institutions and full respect for property rights,” the official added.
