The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as a founding member of the European Union, firmly supports the European path of Moldova. It consistently backs our country’s European aspirations and a merit-based accession process. Deputy Parliament Speaker Doina Gherman today made statements to this effect. She had a meeting with a group of members of the Parliament of Luxembourg, currently on a visit to Chisinau.

The official meeting took place during the first bilateral parliamentary visit between Moldova and Luxembourg.

“We appreciate that Luxembourg consistently supports the European aspirations of Moldova. We will continue to focus on implementing reforms and aligning our legislation with the EU acquis. Today, we also discussed opportunities to develop our economic relations. At present, 23 companies with Luxembourgish capital operate in Moldova, with investments of over 211 million lei. The opening of accession negotiations means more predictability, more confidence for investors and better conditions for economic growth,” said Doina Gherman.

A group of members of the parliament of Luxembourg is paying a working visit to Moldova on June 7-10, this year. The agenda of the discussions focuses on strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in the context of the European integration process.
