Support for Moldova’s EU accession process reconfirmed in Bucharest: meeting between Moldovan parliament speaker and Romania's acting PM

Romania’s acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has reaffirmed the firm support of the Bucharest government for Moldova’s process of accession to the European Union. Bolojan made statements to this effect at a meeting with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, on a visit to the neighboring country, to take part in the 10th edition of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum.

Igor Grosu thanked Ilie Bolojan for his openness and constant support for Moldova. He emphasized, that thanks to Bolojan’s personal involvement, more important projects for Moldova and Romania had been boosted and accelerated.

“I concluded my visit to Bucharest with a good and warm discussion with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. I thanked him for the openness, involvement and constant support provided to our country. Thanks to his personal involvement, more important projects for Moldova and Romania have been boosted and accelerated—from infrastructure and interconnection to economic cooperation and support for our European path. I am grateful to Mr. Bolojan for his full involvement and for the serious, open and warm way in which he has always supported the relationship with Moldova. This involvement means a lot to us and remains an important contribution to bringing the two banks of the Prut River closer together,” said Igor Grosu.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu is paying a visit to Bucharest, where he is participating in the Black Sea and Balkans regional security forum, held May 12-13, 2026.
