
Travel Alert for Austria and Slovakia: Foreign Affairs Ministry issues recommendations for Moldovans planning to travel to region
There are travel restrictions at the borders of Austria and Slovakia, because of foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) advises citizens planning to travel to the region to consult the official website of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior.
According to the Moldovan Embassy in Vienna, during April 5-May 20, 2025, Austrian authorities will temporarily close several border crossing points with Slovakia and Hungary.
Temporarily closed border points are: Angern-March – Záhorská Ves, Schloss Hof – Devínska Nová Ves, Andau – Jánossomorja, Andau – Kapuvár (Andau Bridge), Baumgarten – Sopron, Deutsch Jahrndorf – Rajka, Deutschkreutz – Harka / Nagycenk, Halbturn – Várbalog / Albertkazmerpuszta, Klostermarienberg – Olmod, Loipersbach – Ágfalva, Lutzmannsburg – Zsira, Neckenmarkt – Harka, Nickelsdorf – Rajka, Nikitsch – Sopronkövesd / Zsira, Ritzing – Sopron (Brennbergbánya), Schattendorf – Ágfalva, Sieggraben – Sopron (Görbehalomtelep), Wallern – Kapuvár (Wallern Bridge)
Citizens are encouraged to reschedule their travel routes and consult the official website of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior for updated information on border traffic.
