Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry confirms death of young Moldovan in Italy; authorities investigate criminal act hypothesis
The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) today confirmed the death of a 25-year-old Moldovan man found dead near Venice, Italy. Italian authorities are conducting investigations and are exploring the hypothesis of a criminal act.
According to preliminary information provided by the Italian authorities, the young man was living nearby the area where the lifeless body was discovered.
“He was found by an individual, and no weapons were identified at the scene. At the same time, no other visible injuries were noticed on the body, except for the one in the head area. Detailed information is to be communicated later to the General Consulate of Moldova in Padua,” said the MAE.
Additionally, the General Consulate is maintaining contact with the Italian authorities and the deceased's family. According to close relatives, the body is to be buried on Italian territory.
The young man was found dead on December 31, 2025, on agricultural land in the locality of Malcontenta di Mira. He lived alone in the Venice area and was reportedly shot after a day of work.
